Why Word of Grace?

About Us

Grace-oriented, Christ-centered verse-by-verse Bible teaching in the Milwaukee area.

Do you want to learn the Word of God?

Are you tired of going to church with a hunger for spiritual food and leaving the service still hungry?

Are you concerned about your eternal destiny or your Christian walk?

If so, you will find what you seek at Word of Grace Bible Church.

We believe that the purpose of the local church in this present age is best set forth in Ephesians chapter four:
7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8 Therefore He says:  “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.” . . .

11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head — Christ — 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
Ephesians 4:7-8, 11-16
Christ has given spiritual gifts to all believers for the building up of His church. Each of us is gifted at the moment of salvation, and we are gifted with a goal in mind. Notice the purpose given in Ephesians 4:12-16:
Notice that it is not only the church leaders who do the work of the ministry. Rather, as the saints (referring to every believer in Jesus Christ) are equipped through the teaching of the Word of God, it is the saints who do the work of the ministry, leading to the edifying (building up) of the body of Christ. As the church is built up, the saints enjoy biblical unity, spiritual maturity and Christ-likeness, leading to fruitful service to one another and further growth of the church.
In light of Ephesians 4:11-14, while the church is called to many activities, our services are arranged with an emphasis on the preaching of God’s Word, typically in verse-by-verse, exegetical, and expository fashion. As the Word of God is taught, believers gain confidence in their understanding of God, the Bible, and their own God-given roles and responsibilities. This leads to transformed lives, healthier relationships, and the potential for more effective service within the church.
